Galway City Council is preparing a new Local Economic & Community Plan for the period 2023-2029. We invite you to have your say on the future economic, social and community development of Galway city.
The Pre-Draft Plan consultation phase has commenced and will run for a 10-week period from Monday 20th June 2022 to Friday 26th August 2022.
The public and stakeholders are invited to engage in the process to identify the programs that will see our city develop and grow.
What is a Local Economic & Community Plan?
The Local Economic & Community Plan sets out objectives and actions needed to promote and support economic and community development in Galway City over the next six years.
As part of the LECP preparation process, a Draft Issues paper for Galway City has been developed. The Draft Issues paper summaries the key opportunities for Galway City and identifies a number of high level goals.
How will my ideas and views inform the Plan?
Your views will help to shape the direction the next Local Economic & Community Plan will take. Your submissions will be reviewed and summarised, and recommendations will be made in response to them. Your views will be published here on our portal.
Public Consultation
Public Consultation is an important part of the process. This pre-draft plan public consultation stage will take place between Monday 20th June 2022 to Friday 26th August 2022 (inclusive).

Submissions / observations regarding the preparation of the Galway City Local Economic & Community Plan 2023-2029 are invited from members of the public and other interested parties.
We encourage as many individuals, community groups, and stakeholders to make a submission/observation. In particular children, or groups representing the interests of children, are encouraged to participate also.

Please make your submission/observation in one form only i.e. online, by email or hard copy by post. Submissions/observations should have a title of LECP and should state your name, address and where relevant, the body or organisation represented.
The closing date for receipt of submissions/observations is Friday 26th August 2022.
All submissions/observations lodged within the above consultation period will be take into consideration during the preparation of the new Local Economic & Community Plan.

Please note that all valid submissions/observations received by the Council shall be published on the Galway City Council website.
