Observations

Volume 2: Zoning Maps

Please review the land zoning and provide for the delivery of facilities and amenities. At present the RA plots of land are all used and there is no capacity for the community to develop and create an Urban Hub at Ballinfoile Castlegar along the Headford Road and at The Recreational lands at Ballinfoile.

The community needs facilities and amenities. Before any of this lands must be sought for the provision of same in response to the request of the residents of the Communities.

Make specific reference to the delivery of Community Hub at Ballinfoile Castlegar area

Preface

GCC should critically review the Draft Plan and question where actions are stated does the plan give a tangible deliverable with an associated time line for delivery.

Where no action is stated actions should be added

The plan should instruct GCC to carry out base line review of how the city is operating and its impacts on communities and the environment. This is fundamental in assessing baseline status, setting appropriate targets and measuring progress over time

Definitions of short, medium and long-term time lines should be stated at the beginning of the plan

Chapter 9: Environment and Infrastructure

Consider universal access to bins in Galway City. Not everyone can use the bins on the Prom or some city bins which are too high.

Prom bins are too large, unsightly, obstructs the view of the sea and should require planning permission.

Provide bins that everyone can use

The same applies to access of bottle banks which are not deliverd in a univesally accessiable manner at present. Ensure that delivery of Bottle Banks is in keeping with universal design.
